5 Chicago Sporting Events You Can’t Miss This Fall

September is the peak time for sports in Chicago. With baseball, football and soccer all starting up, there is something for every kind of sports fan. Later into the fall, hockey, running, and basketball also join the mix. If you enjoy the thrill of seeing the home team take home the victory, there are plenty of opportunities to watch exciting sports events during your trip to the Windy City. Here are 5 Chicago sporting events that you won’t want to miss this fall.

Da Bears vs. Green Bay Packers

On September 10th, the Bear’s will play their across-the-border rivals at the iconic Soldier Field. These are two of the oldest teams in the league, with passionate fans who live near each other, which will make for an exciting evening. This will be the first game in 15 seasons that “da Bears” will play the Packers without their long time star quarterback, Aaron Rodgers. Fans will be flooding from both Illinois and Wisconsin to see this showdown and cheer on their team to victory.

Chicago Fire vs. New England Revolution

The Chicago Fire are consistently one of the best teams in MLS. While their original rivals were the FC Dallas, the Revolution have emerged as a top contender and the top rival in the team’s new chapter. On September 23rd, the two teams will face off at Soldier Field. This game also falls on Hispanic Heritage Night, where the first 5,000 fans can receive fire-themed luchador masks to celebrate.

Chicago Fire vs. Inter Miami

When Lionel Messi, arguably one of the best soccer players in the world, signed with Inter Miami, it made headlines across the globe. On October 4th, you can watch the world-class athlete playing at Soldier Field against the Chicago Fire. This is sure to be a popular game to go to, especially since Messi will be playing, so be sure to get your tickets as soon as possible.

Bank of America Chicago Marathon

On October 8th, world-class athletes will line up with hopes of qualifying for the Olympic trials at the Bank of America Chicago Marathon. As the marathon with the fourth largest number of participants, this is a city-wide event, whether you’re running or spectating. The marathon is more than just a race, with the streets lined with activities, good food, and music all throughout the course. Enjoy the atmosphere while you wait for the finishers to break records and enjoy the cool autumn air by the lake.

Chicago Blackhawks vs. St. Louis Blues

The Blackhawks and the Blues have been rivals since 1991 thanks to a massive brawl during the game. Since then, the two hockey teams' successes have led to a continuous battle for supremacy. A matchup between these two teams lights up the arena, sparking the air with the buzz of a playoff game no matter when they play in the season. Chicago locals pull out all the stops for games against St. Louis, and if you’re in town November 26th this year, you’re in luck. Their game is sure to sell out quickly, so grab your tickets for one of the most exciting hockey games this fall.
